Can I Reapply For NSFAS More Than Once?

If you’ve previously applied for NSFAS but you were not approved then you may be wondering whether you can reapply. NSFAS has cleared up all the confusion regarding reapplying more than once.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides tertiary funding to South African students so that they may pursue their studies without having to worry about the financial burden.

NSFAS receives thousands of applications from students across the country and only a small percentage of those applicants are approved for the bursary.

If you have applied for the NSFAS bursary and your application has been unsuccessful then you will be pleased to know that you can reapply for the NSFAS bursary more than once.

NSFAS has explained that if you applied in prior years and your application was not approved but you still need funding for the following academic year, you may apply again if you meet the funding criteria.

In order to be eligible for NSFAS funding you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Can be a SASSA grant recipient.
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum.
  • Persons with a disability whose combined household income is not more than R600 000 per annum.
  • Applicants who first registered at university before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
