PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a social enterprise with a mission to ‘expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education across Africa’. PEAS establishes and operates affordable secondary schools in Uganda and Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to cost and geographical barriers. PEAS launched an ambitious strategy in 2021, aimed at expanding Access to Quality Education, ensuring schools are Sustainable, and investing in systems strengthening. With over 30 secondary schools in Uganda educating over 15,000 students, 40 staff at the Country Office, and 900 staff working in the network schools, PEAS intend to expand its geographical coverage and impact by recruiting in various positions:

PEAS Uganda is seeking to fill the following vacancies:

Job Title: Driver (02) Positions
Reporting to: Logistics Assistant
Location : Country Office, Kampala

Job Summary:
As an organizational Driver, you will be working with the Procurement and Logistics team to provide Logistical support and expertise to staff. This is a key role in overseeing and driving authorized passengers, transporting goods and services (information), and checking the mechanical condition of the PEAS Uganda vehicle regularly.

Experience & Qualifications Essential:

  • Advanced Level Certificate in Education as Preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role for a large dynamic and fast-growing organization-specific job-related experience with a safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair.

Skills & Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Mechanical Knowledge is required
  • Knowledge of safe road use is needed.
  • Working knowledge of photocopier, computer and telephone preferred.
  • First Aid skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure/ to deadlines
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel nationally.
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English [and any other local language(s)].
  • Confidence and maturity.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Strong team player
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.

Job Title: Senior procurement Officer
Reporting to: Head of Operations 
Location: Country Office-Kampala

Job Summary:
The senior procurement officer is to work as part of the logistics team and serve as a focal point for the E delivery of efficient cost-effective and Equality procurement services across the network in the management of all responsibilities related to e procurement, purchasing, and E customs clearing, notably developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers to achieve the best service, ensure PEAS procurement is ethical, transparent and achieves the greatest value for money, emphasizing timely processing of orders and payment of suppliers. Senior Procurement Officer Head of Operation Country Office – Kampala

Experience and Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement & Logistics
  • CIPS — Level 2
  • Computer Skills
  • A minimum of Five Years’ experience in procurement and logistics at the Senior level
  • Previous experience leading procurement and logistics for a large enterprise (group) with a centralized management system
  • Good knowledge of procurement and logistics best practices embedding value-for-money approaches to ensure an effective procurement chain in the management of the mandate of the department.
  • Experience managing large relationships in the local market context
  • Experience in successful disposal of assets and inventory

Personal attributes and Skills:

  • Demonstrate relevant abilities in supervision, team building, problem-solving, and counseling
  • Ability to maintain databases to provide information to decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate understanding for driving the right efficiencies and effectiveness in processes while maximizing value for money
  • Knowledge of standardizing and developing tools to track assets
  • Annual accountability and verification of assets and support to asset planning.
  • A good record of success in Implementing good risk identification and mitigation approaches in a large organization.
