NSFAS is calling on everyone that has applied to study at university or TVET College in 2022 to apply for funding as just under a month remains before the closing deadline arrives.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is the Higher Education Department’s way of addressing the barrier to entry for financially disadvantaged university and TVET College students in the country.
Additionally, NSFAS has said that the number of its funded students increased by 7% in this year compared to 2020.
The bursary scheme has also said that it expects the number to grow further in 2022 due to the growing demand for NSFAS funding as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, to address complaints from applicants regarding feedback delays, the NSFAS board said that it has developed a new user-friendly application process that provides real-time responses without compromising the validation process.
This will enable applicants to determine if they qualify as soon as they submit their applications. This is how you can submit your NSFAS applications online:
- Go to https://my.nsfas.org.za/Application/selfservice.jsp
- Create a myNSFAS account
- Click on ‘Apply’ and update your information and upload your application supporting documents
- Click ‘Submit’
You can also apply for your NSFAS funding at one of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) centres across the country. The NYDA assists students who have not yet applied, especially those who are located in remote areas without internet access.
